Abstract

Berdasarkan hasil observasi di MAN Sidoarjo, proses pembelajaran biologi sudah dilaksanakan cukup baik, dengan memberikan kesempatan pada siswa belajar secara mandiri (student centered) namun siswa belum sepenuhnya belajar secara aktif, dan efektif. Berdasarkan hasil wawancara menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 60% siswa memiliki masalah mengenai kesulitan belajar yang dialami. Masalah-masalah yang disampaikan selalu pada masalah kognitif tingkat tinggi yang ditemukan siswa dari membaca buku yang dimiliki. Siswa juga mengalami kesulitan ketika menghadapi soal cerita (naratif) yang panjang dengan penjelasan suatu fenomena. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa tergolong belum memiliki keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah penerapan model inkuiri dapat meningkatkan berpikir tingkat tinggi dan hasil belajar pada siswa kelas X IPA 1 pada MAN Sidoarjo. Penelitian yang dilakukan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang bertujuan untuk memperbaiki proses pembelajaran yang dilaksanakan di kelas, sehingga dapat meningkatkan motivasi dan hasil belajar siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif, karena data yang dihasilkan berupa deskripsi, sedangkan data kuantitatif diubah menjadi data kua­li­tatif dengan cara dideskripsikan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata persentase berpikir tingkat tinggi pada siklus I adalah 44,95% dan mengalami peningkatan menjadi 70,58% pada siklus II. Ketuntasan hasil belajar secara klasikal pada siklus I adalah 47,05% dan pada siklus II diperoleh ketuntasan klasikal sebesar 88,23%. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran inkuiri dapat meningkatkan berpikir tingkat tinggi dan hasil belajar siswa.
