Abstract

The existence of BUMDes (Village-Owned Enterprises) is one of the national initiatives for all villages in Indonesia. BUMDes (village-owned enterprises) are anticipated to enhance the village's economy and provide public services. The law regarding towns, number 6 of 2014, mentions BUMDes in village communities. By statute, village-owned businesses (BUMDes) are required. This is also one of the work initiatives in Wates Village, Jenangan District, for the first and second quarters of 2015 and 2020, respectively. The community's welfare at all levels is one of Indonesia's national principles. As the smallest community in a country, villages should be more frequently addressed in development efforts. In the expectation that village communities will be able to complete the BUMDes program, a law regulating village affairs was enacted. In this article, we will discuss the function of BUMDes as economic drivers using Wates Village as an example from the culinary industry. Method of qualitative research that collects data through interviews, field observations, and literature reviews of relevant books, journals, and websites. After data collection, data triangulation was performed using the three data collection methods to determine the validity of the author's data. According to the findings, BUMDes can play a significant role in enhancing the economy of Wates Village because they can foster the development of MSMEs in the community by enhancing product branding and marketing reach.
